Description: Hopi Chief Kachina, Sotuknangu or Heart of the Sky God. Carved and painted in the Warror mode with diamond eyes and mouth. This fearsome warrior blasts his enemies or evil doers with lightning. The pine wood base is a Keam or Fred Harvey type painted black. A typed label on the back side reads; A Feather Kachina used in the Hopi ceremonial. This Kachina is of the earliest style of carving. The naked form is typically from before 1890 and recorded as warly as the 1850s.

An Arizona family collection in Apache County where it has been for more than 60 years.
