Description: Smoothbore flintlock Northwest gun made in Belgium for Pierre Chouteau, Jr and Co. of St. Louis, and specifically intended for the Indian trade in America. It is sawed off on both ends to be easily hidden under a robe or blanket, thus the name "blanket gun". A brass "serpent" decorates back side.
